ABOUT
I describe my work as both naturally occurring and man made. Like a living entity, it grows slowly. The work is created over time. I remove material to reveal a form so the work can become equally sculptural and drawing. Like the wood that frames the art, or the light that illuminates it, nature can be seen, harmonious and objectively beautiful. The work seeks to evoke the semi permanence of life. Momento mori, Vanitas, Ichi-go ichi-e.
I see my work as an extension of my other passions; woodworking, wilderness living, and interior design. I love vintage furniture, all things Scandinavian, solid wood construction, and subtle details. I enjoy working with all natural materials. I try to emphasize their physical properties in my art while balancing the whole of the composition.
I earned a BFA in Painting and Art History from Tyler School of Art in 2012. Since 2008 I have worked on installing numerous murals for Mural Arts Philadelphia.
